About Julie Baron

Julie Baron, MSW, LCSW-C

I’m Julie Baron, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, psychotherapist, author, and speaker serving adolescents, adults, and families. I provide evidence-based and relational interventions to help clients improve their mental health, relationships, and quality of life. My path to helping others began with earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Penn State University followed by a Master’s in Social Work from Boston University.

I have dedicated my life and career to helping people develop, grow, feel better, and value their relationships. Through my mental health practice, speaking, writing, and personal endeavors, creating and fostering social connection has been a core value. I believe it is the key to healing, growth, and health. By working together and supporting one another, we can create a better collective future.

My Work

My experience as a mental health professional spans over 30 years. I’ve worked with individuals and families in community-based mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, home-based crisis stabilization programs, public and private schools, and private therapy practices. I’m committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care, using relational strategies and interventions to Engage, Empower, and Elevate clients toward reaching their goals.

As the owner of Julie Baron and Associates, a private practice in Rockville, MD, I’ve gathered a talented team of therapists dedicated to providing specialized care and support. As the coordinator of our comprehensive DBT Program for adolescents and young adults, I have witnessed the power of our team approach, creating positive changes in the lives of teens and their families.

My Commitment To Helping Others Extends Beyond My Practice

Since 1998, I’ve given innumerable talks in various settings fostering knowledge on topics relevant to working with and parenting teens and young adults. In my experiences speaking and training, I have shared knowledge and resources with thousands of teenagers, mental health professionals, educators, community leaders, and parents.

I value hearing from a collective of human voices across various life stages, genders, sexualities, cultures, religions, ethnicities, races, socioeconomic stations, and neurodiversity.

I consult with schools on counseling students, crisis intervention, social-emotional programming, and implementing strategies to improve school climate so students can develop and reach their full potential. My experiences teaching and learning from others underscore my commitment to shaping communities through values of respect, dignity, and connected relationships.

Throughout my career, it has been my mission to engage, empower, and elevate teens, young adults, their families and individual clients towards positive change and help them reach their full potential to achieve their goals.

My Commitment To The Field

Helping shape the next generation of psychotherapists drives me to train, supervise, and mentor students in the field.  I’m an Adjunct Faculty member and External Field Placement Clinical Supervisor at Tulane University School of Social Work, guiding graduate-level students pursuing their Master’s in Social Work.

In addition, I provide professional clinical consultation and supervision for social workers seeking clinical licensure in Maryland. I believe in nurturing the growth and development of fellow mental health professionals and contributing to a strong and dedicated network of therapists.

My work has led to many rewarding experiences, though perhaps one of the more touching has been working with the numerous clients who have chosen to become therapists themselves—it’s an honor to have played a role inspiring others to help those in need.

As A Parent

Navigating the long and winding journey of raising two boys, both now young adults, allows me to empathize with the challenges parents face. My own parenting experiences inform my efforts to provide valuable perspectives and guidance in my work with parents. Currently, I’m working on a book supporting parents in their efforts to raise emotionally well and accountable teens, using connected relationships as a resource for both parents and their teens.

In My Personal Life

I value my strong relationships with family, friends and colleagues alike. Meaningful connections are essential to my well-being, and I make time to nurture those bonds. I am ever grateful to my personal network of support.
